About

I am a PhD student in the Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology program at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I am working with Dr. Elizabeth Leger. I am broadly interested in plant, community, and restoration ecology in arid and semi-arid landscapes, with a focus on the Great Basin Desert. While plants are my main jam, I also have extensive experience conducting bird and amphibian surveys throughout the Intermountain West.

Prior to graduate school, I worked in hydrology and watershed science. Highlights include habitat restoration and post-fire management in the Gila National Forest of southwestern New Mexico, as well as studying the effects of timber management on streamflow and water quality in a coastal redwood forest at the Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BA in Astrophysics and Planetary Science. During this time, I received Goldwater and Astronaut Scholarships for my research on exoplanet systems and developed an affinity for Bayesian statistics and modeling. After college, I worked for several years as an engineer at the Wyoming Infrared Observatory (WIRO).
